“Congratulations to Leroy Van Dyke for writing such a classic song! We are very proud to call Leroy our friend. His song “Auctioneer” is a song that will be requested for many years to come.” said WXXQ Executive Producer, Brenda Paulson.

WXXQ Legends of Country Show has been on the air for 16 years. It has been the No. 1 weekend radio broadcast in the Illinois area for many years, with more than 60,000 listeners each show.

“I have had some great fans in the Rockford, Illinois, area since I won a talent contest there sixty years ago. I am so glad to know “Auctioneer” is still connecting with my fans there!” said Van Dyke.

Leroy Van Dyke wrote “Auctioneer” while he was serving in the United States Army stationed in Korea. Van Dyke is the only known entertainer who is also an internationally renowned licensed auctioneer. In 1956 the song became an instant multi-million seller.

1961 Leroy released his hit single “Walk On By.” This single stayed at No. 1 on the charts for 19 weeks, and remained on the charts for an incredible 42 weeks. In 1994, Billboard magazine named it the “biggest country single of all-time!”
